Fly fishing at the ranch is a signature activity, having become the first residential community in Routt County to receive an Orvis endorsement. The crystal clear ponds, creeks and streams are all fair game for casting a line(catch and release only). The property proudly features many brook and rainbow trout-rich ponds and nearly three miles of Walton Creek, offering both an introduction to angling and a sportsman’s challenge. World renowned fly fisherman, Steve Herter, who helped coordinate the effort at the ranch, calls it “some of the best fly fishing in the American West”. The water is private, and the ranch’s developers, Jeff and Jamie Temple, were committed to creating and maintaining a stellar fish habitat. Fishing at the ranch is open season all year round. Fish in waders, from the shore, or from one of the flat-bottomed elegantly hand crafted Adirondack guide boats. If visitors are pampered, the wildlife here are extended family. Good
stewards all, owners realize that the incredible native animals and fish
must be protected and it is a sacred honor to be able to live side by
side with them(after all, they were here first!) The mood is one of
acceptance and respect for their place in our Paradise. As a result,
one can often experience the sound of bugling elk echoing throughout the
canyon, catch a glimpse of a large moose galloping across the sage
covered meadow or view a sassy whistle pig perched on a boulder, belting
out his high pitched salute. |
